Pride.
"But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God opposes the proud but favors the humble.""
(James 4:6)
To the layman,
Pride is defined as the state or feeling of being proud.
To look down on those who do not perform as well as you.
Well, the bible talks about another kind of pride.
The act of doing good so that you gain favor with God.
To some believers,
they feel that they deserve nothing from Daddy God unless they do something,
and only then can they get what they want.
Hey, isn't that why Daddy God sent Jesus?
Because we're undeserving.
Yet believers still think they have to work in order to gain favor.
Beloved, that itself, is pride.
To put it in a crude manner,
it's as good as saying their good deeds are greater than the divine exchange on the cross.
And for these people,
when things go their way,
they often give credit not to Daddy God's grace,
but to their own works.
And with their head held high,
they look down on unrighteous men,
when they themselves are on the same level.
Beloved, when is the last time you thanked God for something?
That's a very good estimate of where your pride lies in.
Are you pound because you've done your best and deserved success?
Or because you know you're Daddy God's treasure,
and it was His grace that you gained success?
And This Message, Glorifies Jesus.
