Empty Jars
""What can I do to help you?" Elisha asked. "Tell me, what do you have in the house?" "Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil," she replied."
(2 Kings 4:2)
On the verge of losing her son to slavery,
a desperate widow turned to Elisha for help.
She needed to pay her dead husband's debt or her son would be sold to slavery.
Elisha went to her, and asked what did have left in her house,
and her reply was simple - A jar of olive oil.
This taught me an important lesson.
That in the eyes of God,
nothing is insignificant.
The widow knew Elisha was here to help.
And she knew Elisha asked her that question,
to see what could be used to help her.
But logically speaking,
who would've knew the small jar of oil could be used by God to help in anything?
Well, beloved, the God you worship doesn't work on logic.
He works on Grace.
And His Grace is in such abundance,
it has come to a point where it boils down to your ability to receive.
For that widow, all her vases she borrowed were eventually filled with oil,
that came from that small jar.
And I believe that had she borrowed more vases,
she'd have more to sell.
Beloved, look around you today.
If someone were to ask you today what have you have left in your life,
what would you say?
And This Message, Glorifies Jesus.
